The Malt Cross is a historic music hall and bar in Nottingham, UK. For their weekly Thursday open mic nights, the venue needed a loud, punchy visual identity that broke away from conventional gig flyers and resonated with the city's student and independent music scene.
I developed an urban collage aesthetic inspired by DIY punk zines and street wheatpaste culture — layering high-contrast musician halftones, hand-cut sticker badges, and vibrant comic starbursts over a textured black background.
The distressed "MX OPEN MIC" logo functions like a bold graphic stamp, designed with electric energy to cut through cluttered street walls and grab attention across social media and print.
